Carnegie Bound! The Alonso Brothers & America at 250

We open the Music at St. Mary season with a special preview of The Alonso Brothers’ Carnegie Hall debut next year, presented in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. From Havana’s rumba halls to Harlem’s jazz clubs, this program traces the century-long conversation between Cuban and American music — a bicultural celebration of rhythm, memory, and freedom.

The award-winning Columbus International Children’s Choir is sure to delight audiences in this family-friendly spring concert, featuring many different ensembles ranging from 4 to 18 years old, singing exquisitely in many languages, and including beloved masterworks, folk songs, and more.

The program features Edvard Grieg's String Quartet No. 1 in G minor, Op. 27, including works by Mozart, Shostakovich, and more Their return promises an evening of brilliance, depth, and musical camaraderie.

Presenting the acclaimed Callisto Quartet, comprising Cameron Daly and Gregory Lewis on violins, Eva Kennedy on viola, and Hannah Moses on cello, this vibrant ensemble is set to infuse fresh energy into our musical community.

The Columbus International Children’s Choir will sing excerpts from Stabat Mater during the veneration of the cross, offering an unforgettable musical and spiritual experience for all.  

The Columbus International Children’s Choir (CICC) is delighted to return to St. Mary for an extraordinary concert featuring incredible soloists, together with Chamber Orchestra in a unique performance of a beloved masterwork, Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.

The second concert in Music at St. Mary's Bach Festival invites you to experience the full emotional range of Bach’s Keyboard Concertos. Orlay and Orlando Alonso, along with the MSM Orchestra, bring to life two of Bach’s most powerful and introspective works: Keyboard Concertos No. 1 in D Minor and No. 5 in F Minor.

We begin this year’s Bach Festival with one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most monumental works, The Well-Tempered Clavier (Book I), performed by acclaimed pianist Orlando Alonso. This collection of preludes and fugues, represents a pinnacle of musical architecture. Bach dedicated this masterpiece “for the glory of God and the education of fellow men.”
